"Moe, that info is worth more than 2 cents. I didn't know that about the grid tie inverters. Now I know I will never have gti and that my system is just a backup for when the grid goes down. I know I will never replace the pc but I will…"

"Here is my 2 cents: The plug in GTI's are not approved for usage in the US and from what I have read the local building code enforcement would never approve them. If there was ever a fire your insurance company would probably reject your claim…"

"Thank you Gene. I did not think about the possibility of one of the male ends being exposed. I think for now I will just plug my power strips into the extension cords. Two outlets on inverter so I can run two cords, one to tv and satelite box and…"

"Hi Robert,   The “safety police” are people who can foresee safety problems with someone’s proposed wiring, and are not shy about pointing them out.  For instance, the extension with a male plug on both ends is also…"

"Simply said, in my case, I will not chance the power police at my door, therefore, I use only the power the panels make before it might get to the meter.....I use the GTI occasionally on cloudy-ish days, but my main plan is to run the refrigerator,…"

"Thanks Ray. I have been giving this a lot of thought. My house's breaker box is labeled. I can shut down a particular circuit with no problem.  Or I could run the extension cord into the house and plug a power strip into it. Pretty much…"

"Oh yea Robert, we have been using extension cords with two male ends for years. Isolating parts of the house and plugging right in. Careful though, safety police will be out in force if we talk about it here. And rightfully so, it can be scary if…"

"OK, I agree with screwing the PC hard, I do it every chance I get, but from what I've read, these Smart Meters are bi-directional, i.e., if you're using the PC's power, the meter reads it, if you have low usage and YOUR power is going…"

"I have a smart meter even in rural Arkansas. Theres no making the meter go backwards so no gti for me. Kind of afraid of creating some legal issues. However, my HF 750 watt inverter has two outlets for extension cords. Reckon I will be flipping off…"
